1. Always research and make budget
Before you can come up with a solid concept for your home, you need at least a general idea of what you want. That means research and question.
Spend some time looking through some interior design websites, clipping pictures from magazines, or pinning photos to a dedicated Pinterest board. Pinterest has become such an important tool in interior design. There is so much motivation out there, and it’s all over Pinterest! See what the images you’re drawn toward have in common. That will assist you in landing on the design style you truly love or the mood you want to convey. Gather paint chips, fabric swatches and flooring samples just in case, and make notes of everything you feel is relevant.
Deciding on a budget will help take the design process to the next step. Once you know your budget, you know where you stand, design wise. Do you want to make a room cozier with throw pillows and blankets, or do you want to stun your guests with gorgeous wall art? Figure out your budget and allocate some for the great ideas you get.
2. Your space is key
Some spaces you enter and from the amount of clatter, you don’t realize some key aspects of the interior home. That is way making space, or in otherwise spacing out your interior design and furniture is very important.Overcrowding a house can lead to restlessness, while enough space will make you feel more peaceful. It is your interior designers job to help you utilize your space to its absolute best. And to most designers, your home’s spacing is an integral part of the design process.
3. Your colour scheme
Selecting a color scheme helps you to create a design that has a unifying theme, feels cohesive and looks great. You don’t want each room to feel different than the other now do you? It also keeps you on track to make sure everything goes well together, so you don’t end up with a piece that doesn’t fit. Just one piece can mess up the whole design. Beside the colour scheme of the interior of the home, there are some components in the room that provide a color scheme that will change the whole design and take it up a notch. This includes drapes blinds, throw pillows, rugs, artwork, furniture, walls, ceilings, carpet, tile, hardwood and other flooring.
4. Light it up
Incorporate lighting and add a whole new feel to your design. You can integrate a variety of lighting in your space, and by doing that you should also utilize both task and ambient lights. Have different lamps scattered around you, to give you more options and choices for the amount of light in the area, and consider converting your conventional switches to dimmers for even more versatility!
5. Materials are important
“Quality is key.” And this is an obvious one. Good quality materials have a feeling that’s different than poor quality materials, and this will show in your home. That is why you should spend more time on your material and construction. Make sure that you have the quality that you deserve.
